Ducati Gt1000 Cafe Racer

A restyling by Purpose Built Moto showed there was a classy cafe racer hidden beneath the Ducati GT1000's needless bells and whistles.

A short-lived series, as probably they were about 5-10 years too soon with the concept. But the “Sport Classic” line is spectacular. The GT version was a “Grand Touring” one of the genre – so it wasn’t as faithful to the Cafe Racer culture or Ducati sporty heritage. Ducati GT1000 Sport Classic Café Racer. The GT1000 was released before its time, had it been a few years later the market would have lapped up these beefy 1000cc modern classics. But they didn’t, and Ducati stopped making them which means some models are getting to be in high demand. Ducati has just added a 3rd bike to the Sport Classics range, the GT1000. Created using most of the same nuts and bolts that you’ll find on the other 2 bikes in the Sports Classic range (Sport 1000 and Paul Smart) the GT1000 manages to still stand alone and has enough style to set it apart from the other family members. With this custom build PBM created an extremely unique motorcycle that performs amazingly well, using the Ducati GT1000 Sport Classic Café Racer as the doner. Ducati’s GT1000 Sport Classic was part of a line released by the Bologna marque in the early 2000s, a vintage L-Twin already boasting a gorgeous appearance.

The bike started out as a Ducati Sport Classic GT1000. Sold between 2007 and 2010 the GT1000 was the comfort model in the range, designed with sport-touring in mind. It shared a lot in common with the cafe racer-esque Sport1000 but dispensed with the rear cowl and swapped out the clip-on style bars in favour of more comfortable alternatives.
